Clock-In PIN

While I am out, there will be one 10-point assignment for clock-in and clock-out. When I return, the old system of separate assignments for each will be used.

If you miss the clock-in or clock-out it will be marked zero. If your computer is experiencing technical difficulties you must show the teacher BEFORE the clock-in window closes.

Complete the Meme Monday #01 activity today in class.

I have e-mailed students a copy of the Linux Command Line Interface activity. Students that want to start on that can do so today. You will need to use the classroom network in the back of the room. Only seven students at a time can work on this activity.

The due date for The Golden Record assignment has been changed to Friday. Also, some students have asked to use the microphones for this project. They are located in one of the back cabinets. Please make sure to return them when you are finished.

Work [~12-25 Minutes]

Continue working on The Golden Record project. The rubric for the assignment is listed below.

Content Rubric

  1. First slide contains FIRST NAME and LAST INITIAL and the phrase "My Golden Record". [5 Points]
  2. Second slide contains a minimum of ten school-appropriate images that demonstrate what you consider important about Earth, humanity, or the universe as a whole. [5 Points]
  3. Third slide contains a list of your Top 10 songs. [5 Points / +10 Points Extra if you include audio samples of each song.]
  4. Fourth slide contains a minimum of ten school-appropriate sounds that demonstrate what you consider important about Earth, humanity, or the universe as a whole. [5 Points]
  5. Fifth slide contains a 60-second audio or video recording of yourself providing a "greeting" to any lifeforms that may find this Golden Record. [5 Points / +10 Points Extra for Video]
  6. Slide show uses a DESIGN THEME to enhance the visual appearance of the presentation. [5 Points]
  7. Slide show uses TRANSITIONS between slides to enhance the visual appearance of the presentation. [5 Points]
  8. Second slide uses ANIMATIONS to modify the way images appear on the slide. [5 Points]
  9. Slide show uses TIMING to automatically progress through the slide show. [10 Points]

Process Rubric

  1. File name is: lastname_firstname_golden_record [5 Points]
  2. File format is PowerPoint Presentation (.ppt) [5 Points]
  3. When you are finished, export your presentation as a video. [10 Points]
    • You must use the desktop app version of PowerPoint.
    • Click "File" --> "Export" --> "Create a Video".
    • Use "Presentation Quality" and "Use Recorded Timings and Narrations".
    • Click "Create Video" when ready. THIS MAY TAKE 10-15 MINUTES OR MORE. Don't wait until the end of class to export the video.
  4. Submit the PowerPoint file to Focus. Upload the video to OneDrive and share it with me (kelleyr@duvalschools.org).
  5. Due Date: Friday, October 25, 2019 at 11:59PM. [30 Points]

Future Nine Weeks Assignments

The assignments listed here are assignments that are due later in the year.

  • Students are always free to work ahead and submit them.
  • For projects that require a file upload, you will need to change the Nine Weeks in the top right corner of Focus.
  • If you are working on a future assignment and get stuck, you must wait until I can help students with current projects first.

Break Down [~5 Minutes]

Before you leave please do the following::

  1. BACKUP your data in at least two locations.
  2. RESTART the computer.
  3. TURN OFF the monitor.
  4. COLLECT your materials.
  5. WAIT quietly to be dismissed.
  6. PUSH in your chair when you leave.
  7. THROW away any trash in the trashcan as you leave.

Homework

Finish any class work not completed during the period.
