Please take a look at the following website: Samsung Solve for Tomorrow. Samsung holds a yearly competition for students. The object of this competition is to solve a problem in your local community using Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Please think about some problems that affect you and your community that we can help solve using STEM. Please send me an e-mail with the Subject: Samsung Solve for Tomorrow. Write a few sentences describing the problem and how you think STEM can help solve it. I will look at your suggestions and then have students vote on which idea they think is best.

Continue working on The Golden Record project. The rubric for the assignment is listed below.
Content Rubric
- First slide contains FIRST NAME and LAST INITIAL and the phrase "My Golden Record". [5 Points]
- Second slide contains a minimum of ten school-appropriate images that demonstrate what you consider important about Earth, humanity, or the universe as a whole. [5 Points]
- Third slide contains a list of your Top 10 songs. [5 Points / +10 Points Extra if you include audio samples of each song.]
- Fourth slide contains a minimum of ten school-appropriate sounds that demonstrate what you consider important about Earth, humanity, or the universe as a whole. [5 Points]
- Fifth slide contains a 60-second audio or video recording of yourself providing a "greeting" to any lifeforms that may find this Golden Record. [5 Points / +10 Points Extra for Video]
- Slide show uses a DESIGN THEME to enhance the visual appearance of the presentation. [5 Points]
- Slide show uses TRANSITIONS between slides to enhance the visual appearance of the presentation. [5 Points]
- Second slide uses ANIMATIONS to modify the way images appear on the slide. [5 Points]
- Slide show uses TIMING to automatically progress through the slide show. [10 Points]
Process Rubric

- File format is PowerPoint Presentation (.ppt) [5 Points]
- When you are finished, export your presentation as a video. [10 Points]
- You must use the desktop app version of PowerPoint.
- Click "File" --> "Export" --> "Create a Video".
- Use "Presentation Quality" and "Use Recorded Timings and Narrations".
- Click "Create Video" when ready. THIS MAY TAKE 10-15 MINUTES OR MORE. Don't wait until the end of class to export the video.
- Submit the PowerPoint file to Focus. Upload the video to OneDrive and share it with me (kelleyr@duvalschools.org).

- If you are working on a future assignment and get stuck, you must wait until I can help students with current projects first.

- RESTART the computer.
- TURN OFF the monitor.
- COLLECT your materials.
- WAIT quietly to be dismissed.
- PUSH in your chair when you leave.
- THROW away any trash in the trashcan as you leave.

Finish any class work not completed during the period.
